Jamie Oliver has to get tough and his language is vulgar, even while he's doing a really good and kind thing. I'd not be keen on putting young kids in front of the set unless you want to hear them repeating a lot of choice words. Some of the the students appalling work habits and personality flaws (no wonder they were unemployed!) It's interesting and frankly surprising to see which ones make it and which ones fall out. It takes its toll on the viewer, so I try not to watch too much in a single sitting. You sometimes want to yell at the participants.

It’s hard to keep up with Jamie Oliver (aka The Naked Chef) these days–a restaurant here and there; a line of herbs at the supermarket; a pop CD from his television show; new books willy-nilly. With this ubiquity one could be forgiven for forgetting exactly why the nation fell gobsmackingly in love with him in the first place. One look at this video should remind you just why your Nan and Mum were swooning, and why he’s everyone’s favourite cheeky chappy. Recipes such as Thai Seared Carpaccio, Tray Baked Pork Chops with Thyme and Roasted Pears, Preserved Slow-cooked Baby Bell Chillies Stuffed with Anchovies and Capers, may sound difficult, but he has a knack for making all of these seem manageable for even the most reticent cook. 1/20 - Piri Piri Chicken
This is the next best thing to having Jamie Oliver pop round every evening to cook your dinner. He's demonstrating how to get a complete meal on the table in less time than it takes for a takeaway to be delivered. And he doesn't mean microwaving a ready meal. It's proper cooking and it's done straight to camera, in real time and with no frilly lifestyle bits. He even bungs in some health and safety tips. But although these show are essentially lessons in how to cook (and wouldn't he be a great cookery teacher at school?), this is Jamie, so it's casual, fun and bish-bash fast: potatoes are chopped up "clanky-stylee", salad's given "attitude" and "hum", while a taste of piri piri sauce gets a rodeo cowboy's "yee-ha". And it all looks so easy. I bet half the nation will be trying one of tonight's dishes tomorrow. Genius.
